Seven major energy centers known as chakras lie within the body. When any of these centers are imbalanced, blocked or overloaded, our lives are negatively affected & attempts to fulfill our potential are hindered. In this series, you'll learn what each chakra represents and how it affects your life. You'll learn how to bring the chakras into balance by using yin yoga, breathing techniques, and more.
Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It's slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body. Yoga props like blankets, blocks, a bolster or pillows, eye pillow, sand bag or bag of rice/beans will be very helpful during a Yin practice.
We’ll mainly practice the Yin style of yoga and hold most postures at least 2 minutes, but there may be some gentle and restorative yoga, breath work, and guided meditation/relaxation included as well. Because each class will be designed to calm your nervous system and take you into a deep state of relaxation, most classes will end with you in shavasana so you can get up at your own timing. You could even come in your pajamas or practice in bed! For this reason, if you are joining live, please come to class 5-10 min. early so we can connect and share about the previous class then.
Modifications and alternatives will be offered. As for props, you might need 1-2 blankets (or heavy towels), 2 blocks (or heavy books), 1 strap (or a belt) and 1 bolster (or a pillow)
We'll also cover the 3 Principles of Yin Yoga, which are:
- Come into the pose to an appropriate depth… Give your body a space to open up and invite you to go deeper.
- Resolve to be still… Once we have found the edge, we settle into the pose and let go of the movement.
- Rest in the posture for some time…(don't worry, this will be more of a beginner class, so we won't hold most postures beyond 2 or 3 minutes).
You will have access to all of the recordings
until March 31st (if you're a member, you'll continue to have access).
You can purchase a pass for $77 for this series or use any class package or either of the Virtual Memberships.
